day... i don't know

Washington DC! Wahoo! The day began early… we were warned that Traffic was HORRIBLE until 930, so heaping those warnings.. we took of for the subway system. We arrived around 830 and hopped onto the train headed for DC! Two stops later we were forced off the train & we were notified of a MAJOR delay in the line we were taking.. the green line! So we contemplated several options, and then decided to take the shuttle to a different line… red… and take that down town. Once we got off that mess… we began the WALKING journey around downtown… Oh & did I mention we forgot our maps!! OOPS!
So we headed toward the pointing thing… (see above)
We got there & took some pictures!! After that we headed across the street to the WWII memorial.

Took some more pictures.. then made way to the WHITE HOUSE! Where we took some pictures!
After that we made our way towards HONEST ABE. The Lincoln monument.. walked up a bunch of stairs & TOOK pictures! (& read the stuff on the wall… took a break from the HUMID HOTNESS that consumed us all!
After that… still NO MAP! We wandered until we found the FDR monument.. were we FOUND A MAP!!!!!! & Then took pictures! Fun times!
After that we wandered over to the Thomas Jefferson monument.
See Rex in the bottom right corner! (he is reading) From here Rex & Melissa Took off for the Train to get to the car to get Melissa to the Airport… about 10minutes later. I Realize that I (KIRA) have the keys to the rental car… OOPS! Luckily Rex had not got on the train yet & he was able to RUN back to us & get the keys! They made it to the airport in time & dropped Melissa off.. so we could later find out her flight was delayed & she missed her connection … so she spent the night in the airport. – Now back to the fun! Candice, megan & I began our search for food! We went to the Smithsonian- saw some art stuff.. and hung out there for a few to cool off from the extruciating heat! Journeyed back out into the world… and eventually found food! After this we searched for a mall- NO LUCK (big downtown cities are hard to find stuff). Then we decided to meet up with Rex at Arlington..
It was starting to cool off.. so we wandered around and checked it out.. very thought provoking place!.. We couldn’t stay long.. because we had to get the rental back by 730 & we had a bit of a drive ahead of us.
So we found the RV & the rental place & got back on the road. NEXT stop… MYRTLE BEACH!!! We will take pictures I am sure!!
Love ya,
kira
